Injection mold is an important process equipment for the production of various industrial products. With the rapid development of the plastic mold design industry and the promotion and application of plastic products in the aviation, aerospace, electronics, machinery, shipbuilding and automotive industries, the product requirements for the mold Increasingly high, the traditional plastic mold design method has been unable to adapt to the requirements of product upgrading and quality improvement. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) technology has become the most effective way to penetrate these weak points in plastic product development, mold design and product processing.

US listed company Moldflow is a CAE software and consulting company specializing in injection molding. Since the release of the world's first mobile analysis software in 1976, it has dominated the plastic molding CAE software market. In recent years, it has been widely used in the fields of automobiles, home appliances, electronic communications, chemicals and daily necessities.

Using CAE technology, the analogy analysis of the entire injection molding process can be performed on the computer before the mold processing, accurately predicting the filling, holding pressure, cooling of the melt, and the stress distribution, molecular and fiber orientation distribution, and product shrinkage in the product. And warpage deformation, etc., so that the designer can find the problem as soon as possible, and modify the part and mold design in time, instead of waiting for the mold to be repaired. This is not only a breakthrough in the design method of traditional plastic molds, but also has significant technical and economic significance for reducing or even avoiding mold scrapping, improving product quality and reducing costs.

Plastic mold design requires not only CAD technology, but also CAE technology. This is an inevitable trend of development. Injection molding is divided into two phases, the development/design phase (including product design, mold design and mold manufacturing) and the production phase (including purchase of materials, tryouts and molding). The traditional injection molding method is that before the formal production, the designer designs the mold based on experience and intuition. After the mold is assembled, it usually takes several trials. After the problem is found, it is necessary to re-set the process parameters and even modify the plastic mold design. Design of products and plastic molds, which will inevitably increase production costs and extend product development cycle.
